Sangiovese

Bottle Price $35
Members Price $29.75

Sangiovese being a true mediterranean variety, heralding originally from the centre of Italy and the region of Tuscany, has made its presence known in Australia over the past few decades and more recently right here in the Hunter Valley. The nose is ripe with cherries, chocolate & a hint of dried herbs. Whilst the palate is savoury and everything you would expect from a classic Italian variety. Juicy with red berries and cranberry fruit, soft tannins and a long spicy finish.

Sangiovese being a true mediterranean variety, heralding originally from the centre of Italy and the region of Tuscany, has made its presence known in Australia over the past few decades and more recently right here in the Hunter Valley. Our wildly varying climate definitely seems to suit these varieties, and we are chuffed to have secured a small parcel from the fabulous 2017 vintage off the Benwarrin Vineyard in Pokolbin. Made like our Shiraz, with pristine fruit that was crushed and cold soaked for 3 days, then fermented in opens for 10 weeks before pressing off to barrel for approx. 7 months prior to bottle.

We will probably talk about 2017 for many years tocome yet, especially that we were able to make a couple of new wines from such a successful year. The Sangiovese is delightful, and super tasty andsomething we are proud to have launched with. We are loving The Sangiovese with tempura zucchiniflowers.

A great wine for drinking now, but will cellar if you can for the short to medium term.
