Ahhh Semillon – delicate blossom balances the lime zest on the nose, while the palate is rich and powerful. It carries some lovely tight phenolics which just add to the beautiful mouth feel and moreishness of the wine, making you reach for another glass!

From the irrepresible Oakey Creek Vineyard and an incredible year of extremes out in the elements. A vintage of excessive heat, with multiple days above 45 degrees every month at the begining of the year, which has meant lower yields across all of our varieties, but a definite increase in weight and flavour profiles.

The friable loam clay soils of the Oakey Creek vineyard handled themselves particularly well this year. It would seem these little old vines weathered the challenge of heat much better than when it is wet, which is somewhat surprising for old, low yielding vines. The canopy maintained good leaf cover throughout the growing season, with water being kept up to the vines over the intense conditions. The excitement of rallying a hand picking crew at the break of dawn, when the fruit is in incredible condition, is one of the most awesome feelings and it never gets old, and this year was no exception.

Classy, refined, and super drinkable, are just a few adjectives that come to mind. The Oakey Creek is always our most elegant & delicate of the Semillons, but this year it has a little more to say in the glass. Still showing that classic citrus rind and flint nose, but the palate has a richness and beautiful length that will see the 17′ age gracefully over time.

We are enjoying the OC with pork & coriander dumplings. Super delicious!

An amazing wine drinking now, but definitely leave it in the cellar if you can for 10 years or so.
